Chennai earlier known as”MADRAS” is the capital of Tamil Nadu state of India. The ancient history of Tamil Nadu has a magnificent past it saw ups and downs of various empires like Cholas ruled for the period 985-1014, Cheras, Pandiyas, Pallavas ruled for 300 – 900 CE, Vjaya Nagara Empire, Madurai and Thanjavur Nayaks ruled for the time period 1371 – 1659, it was Patronized by the early rulers, Sangam Era, Medieval empires, then the foreign rulers; finally the Indian Independence and the modern Tamil Nadu. Chennai is well known for its famous beaches like Marina beach, Elliot beach, Mamallapuram, Covelong beach, Kanyakumari beach, Poompuhar beach, where the travelers of the world come to explore the beauty and serenity. Some of the beaches are well recognized in the world like Marina Beach.
