Jhansi

Jhansi is a district of Uttar Pradesh. It lies in the region of Bundelkhand on the banks of the Pahuj River, in the extreme south of Uttar Pradesh. One of the most famous attractions of Jhansi is Jhansi Fort. The Nag Mandir is a famous Jhansi attraction among Hindus. Jhansi is also known for the bravery of ‘Queen of Jhansi’ Rani Laxmi Bai.

Jhansi is well connected to all other major towns in uttar Pradesh by road and railway networks. The National Highways Development Project has supported development of Jhansi. Srinagar to Kanyakumari North-South corridor passes through Jhansi as does the East-West corridor; consequently there has been a sudden rush of infrastructure and real estate development in the city. A greenfield airport development has been planned. On 28 August, 2015 Jhansi was selected among 98 cities for smart city initiative by Government of India.

Jhansi is the gateway to Bundelkhand. Another must visit place in Jhansi is the Government Museum. You can find there the Weapons, statues, dresses and photographs of the Chandela dynasty and a picture gallery of the Gupta period. The other places to visit at Jhansi include Laxmi Tal, Shri Kali Temple, Laxmi Bai Park, Laxmi Temple, Gangadhar Rao-Ki-Chhatri, Narayan Bagh, Jari Ka Math, Barua Sagar & Fort, Garhmau Lake, Karguan Jain Temple, and St. Jude Church. It cannot be expressed in words how much proud I felt in visiting such a place where our Country’s martyrs had once lived.  If you are planning for a holiday at Jhansi then arrange it on February or March as that will be the time of Jhansi Festival and you can very well enjoy the art, crafts and culture of the historic city.
